California Budget Getaways

Two People. Two Days. $200

By Betsy Malloy, About.com

Planning a getaway two people for two days, for $200 or less may seems harder than the latest Mission Impossible assignment, but if you know where to go and how to find a bargain, it can be done.

We've created a few bargain breaks to get you started. Each one will cost less than $200 for two people, staying one night in a hotel.

  • San Francisco on a Budget: Can't believe it? Neither could we until we did it, coming in at just under $200 for a four-star hotel and three nice meals.

  • Yosemite for Less: You don't have to sleep on the ground and fight off the bears to stay at Yosemite on a budget. We'll show you how.

  • East of the Sierras Adventure: One of our favorite parts of California is also its least expensive.

  • Valley of the Oaks (Central California): You don't have to be as rich as William Randolph Hearst to stay in his former Hacienda.

  • Morro Bay: Our bargain hotel here is so inexpensive that you'll have enough left over to enjoy a nice dinner at a romantic restaurant.

Plan Your Own Budget Getaway

We know you probably want to go to more places than the few that we've had to time to profile so far, so we've created a guide to planning your own budget getaway.

Tell Us About It
